Child Labor and Poverty

Capitalism and fierce competition among companies are pushing resources allocations to the limit.

They [companies] have to reduce costs and the way many do it is by using child labor directly or through third parties.

On the other hand, children from poor families really need the money to sustain. Although the corporations or companies pay them with little wage, the families have no other choice. What I mean by that is with a lack of financial resources, the parents simply cannot afford to send their children to school. Plus, many of these families do not have a farm which makes it more difficult to survive. I have witnessed this situation(s). So from this point of view, this trend is normal while taking into account of all the factors.

But from another point of view, every child deserves basic right. It is up to the government to stand up and help its people. While this sounds simple, it can be done with non-corruption and effort from the external environment, meaning you and I. Yes, the ones who do not have to starve for every meal. In fact, I need to go to the gym regularly to remove that excess fat off my system. Most of us [ readers and I ] tend to neglect the differences of a need and a want when it comes to daily life purchases.

Without the support (moral and financial of course), poverty and child labor will still exist on a large global level. (Although I believe that poverty will always exist because society functions that way, but that's another story)

What we can do is reduce poverty and at least provide every child a chance in life; that is, basic nutritious foods, no need to live in danger (war zones), etc. There are thousands of charities and relief organizations out there, but the question is whether the money given to them is used efficiently. In many cases, governments block access to the distribution of financial aids for all sorts of reasons but mostly political. Some would believe this is crazy as lives are being lost and differences in opinions/interests take over. It is a known fact that, in order to keep prices stable, tons of food from food production companies get destroyed every year. If they could not be sold, large quantities of wheat get burned, tomatoes simply let to rot are just examples of wasted food for this price stability reason. Now, what if goverments from the G-8 countries could stand up and give incentives to these companies for whatever food not being wasted and use it to solve world hunger? Poverty has always been an issue being discussed among G-8 leaders but has always been present all around the globe.

Mahatma Ghandi once said: "The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems.” From his perspective, we should all put our differences aside and build stronger relationships among us continents, countries, states, cities, neighbors. We need to work as an unity despite our differences and past history. Child labor and poverty are correlated and this problem has remained all over the years. Unity. All countries need to be an unity.
